Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition is a talent showcase for young piano prodigies all over the world. The ultimate aim of the competition is to promote piano education and nourish promising musicians. By participating in public competitions of such international standard, young pianists are led to discover the beauty in music as well as themselves.
The first Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition China Regional Competition was held in Beijing in 2002. For the year 2007 more cities in China will be joining the regional competition and participate at the China Final in December 2007. A remarkable opportunity for young pianists to gain musical experiences as well as to enhance and promote piano music in China into a new era.
Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition welcomes participants from regions all over the world. Selected pianists from different regions will be invited to perform in the Steinway & Sons International Music Festival in Germany, where they earn a once-in-a-lifetime, unparalleled experience of musical sharing as well as global friendship.
The China Region is divided into 6 zones :
(1) Huabei
(2) Xeibu
(3) Dongbei
(4) Huadong and Huazhong
(5) Huanan
(6) Hong Kong and Macau
Zone preliminaries will be held in Beijing,
Taiyuan, Chengdu, Shenyang, Dalian, Shanghai, Qingdao, Guangzhou,
Shenzhen and Hong Kong respectively. From each zone the top
three places of each group of Category 1 will compete in the
China Final and participate in the world class master classes
concurrently arranged. The ultimate ¡§ Special Honour Prize
winner will attend, on behalf of China, the extravaganza
in Germany. For Category 2, the top three places of Group
B & C will compete in the China Final.
